A Review of Sainsburys Pet Insurance

If you are living in the UK and are interested in insuring your pet, one of the names that you will run across right away is Sainsburys. Sainsburys is better known as a Supermarket Chain, but now has many years of experience in the pet insurance area. According to their website, they promise to cover up to £6,500 in veterinarian fees in the event of accident or illness, a figure that puts them in the lead for the amount of coverage available in the UK.

Sainsbury offers many services that go above and beyond the immediate health of your pet. They can help with the cost of recovering lost or stolen pets, as well as the cost of emergency kennel fees and daily minding. In terms of coverage, their insurance is quite excellence and in 2006, they won Your Money's "Best Online Pet Insurance."

While some insurance policies will outright refuse to cover pets of a certain age or a situation, Sainsbury's has a long tradition of covering a wide variety of animals. There is no restriction on the age of the animals to be insured, nor is there any restriction on insuring animals that have been adopted from a shelter. For some pet owners, this can make Sainsbury very attractive; many other pet insurers will refuse coverage in many different situations that don't have a lot to do with the animal's current health.

Sainsburys's policy on claims is also quite relaxed; claims can be filed up to 12 months after the bill, as long as the premiums are paid. Sainsburys also has an extremely good record with getting claims processed; it is not unusual to receive a return in two days. This, combined with their dedication to serving a large and diverse community of pet owners makes it a very popular insurer for the UK's pet owners.

In terms of fees, Sainsburys has made it very easy to get an online quote, and purchasing is even easier. Do keep in mind that there are limits on the coverage provided for specific situations. One example for this is that a claim filed for kennel damage will only pay out at £100. In your own best interest, find out the coverage limitations and decide how that will work with your financial situation.

Insuring your pet is a large part of being a responsible pet owner and there's a lot to think about. Sainsburys offers a great deal of coverage and in a more convenient and timely fashion than other insurers. Like any other insurance, you will want to investigate it and make sure it is right for you, but with policy holders all over the UK, Sainsburys has an excellent reputation for good service and excellent coverage. (As well as good food ;))
